About Us

Family Volunteer League is dedicated to fostering a culture of community service and civic engagement among families.

We are not a charity. We are four moms who cherish our families and our communities. We believe in combining quality time with our kids, teaching them valuable skills, and nurturing their community spirit, with fun activities that give back. Our mission is to raise a new generation of big, kind hearts, ready to make a positive impact.

Our Mission

At Family Volunteer League, our mission is to foster a culture of community service and civic engagement among families. We aim to empower families to make a positive impact through volunteerism, promoting unity, compassion, and social responsibility. By providing diverse opportunities for service, we strive to strengthen the bonds within families and the community, creating a brighter future for all.

How We Got Started

Our founders were the Generation Serve Houston Advisory Committee. When Generation Serve closed their Houston operations in September 2024, our hearts sank. We looked for ways to continue serving our community with our families and when we couldn't find an organization with similar vision for families, our kids encouraged us to start our own. So here we are.

I am passionate about volunteering, giving back to our community, and ensuring that our future generations do the same. I love that I have been able to share that passion with my family and others. We feel blessed to be surrounded by families that want to do good (and it feels good). We look forward to meeting you and your family at our next event!

I grew up in England, inspired by my Mom’s limitless dedication to helping her community and anyone in need. I've made my home in Texas 20yrs ago and live in Katy with my husband Charlie, our two kids and two giant dogs. We see volunteering as a great opportunity to spend quality time together in otherwise hectic work and school schedules and to create lasting memories with friends, while giving back to our community.

I love being able to help those in need and create a positive impact in our community. It’s even more special doing it alongside my family, teaching my children the importance of kindness, empathy, and helping others. One of my greatest joys is watching our children genuinely enjoying volunteering! That’s why creating Family Volunteer League is so important to me – so families of ALL ages can come together, contribute, and grow through service.

I've been a lifelong volunteer. I served as an advisory board member for Generation Serve Houston, through which I passed on the volunteering bug to my children at the ages of 7 and 9. In recognition of that service they each earned the Presidential Service Awards in Middle and High School! I'm so happy that when Generation Serve Houston closed its doors we were able to found FVL as a way to continue giving back.
